Role Overview:
As a Management Accountant here at CloudM, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the CloudM Finance function. You’ll work closely with the Finance Director, performing a range of tasks that ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position, for a proactive problem-solver with a passion for automation and efficiency. The role offers valuable experience and a solid foundation for an accounting career.
We’re seeking a proactive and hands-on Management Accountant who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a small cross-functional team, where you’ll gain exposure across the full finance function. You’ll work closely with the Finance Director and wider business, delivering insightful financial analysis, streamlining reporting processes, and contributing to key decision-making with data-driven insights.
We need someone with strong attention to detail and a genuine enthusiasm for improving processes through automation and efficiency. This role offers a broad scope and is ideal for someone looking to develop a well-rounded finance career.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organise and manage your own workload to ensure that your contribution to the company’s monthly financial reporting process is achieved in a timely and accurate manner
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate data collection and reporting processes
- Assist the Finance Director in the preparation of the monthly management accounts
- Perform insightful variance analysis and deliver meaningful commentary that supports business decision-making
- Take ownership of preparing departmental P&Ls and detailed expense reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity for budget holders
- Prepare monthly journals and maintain key balance sheet schedules (prepayments, accruals, deferred income)
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are accurately maintained
- Maintaining purchase ledger including setting up bank payments
- Daily bank postings and Reconciliation of cash accounts
- Review and approval of employee expenses
- Support on payroll operations
- Maintain the fixed asset registers
- Assisting with the calculation of sales commissions
- Assisting with VAT returns
- Contribute to ad hoc finance projects and process improvements as required
Skills and Experience:
Key Skills
- Good spreadsheet skills and high-level numerical skills and ability to interpret data quickly
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Confident managing upwards – able to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and keep stakeholders informed
- Comfortable in a hands-off environment where initiative and self-management are key
- A collaborative team player who contributes positively to a small, cross-functional team
Desirable Skills
- Self motivated
- Experience in streamlining or automating financial processes
- Part or fully qualified
- Ability to identify actions designed to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Location:
Remote-based role. However, within commutable distance to Manchester would be desirable for the odd team-building activity / meeting.
